AISIKAI customized a 100A automatic transfer switch (ATS) cabinet for a generator power system in Nassau, the Bahamas. Designed for outdoor installation in a coastal environment, the project required a corrosion-resistant enclosure, weather protection, region-specific electrical configurations and convenient field wiring.
Beyond selecting the appropriate materials and components, our engineering team optimized the internal component arrangement to improve wiring accessibility and maintain a clean, consistent layout without increasing the cabinet size.
Located in Nassau, the Bahamas, this project required an ATS cabinet suitable for outdoor use in a coastal environment. The customer specified a stainless steel enclosure and customization based on NEMA 3R requirements.
The cabinet was configured with several features to address these requirements:
Stainless steel enclosure: Provides corrosion resistance for demanding coastal conditions.
Internal controller mounting: The ATS controller is mounted on an internal bracket rather than installed directly through the cabinet door, helping maintain the enclosure's protective design.
Door sealing gasket: A sealing gasket is fitted around the inner perimeter of the cabinet door.
Rain hood: A protective hood is added to the cabinet roof to improve rain protection.
These details help adapt the automatic transfer switch cabinet to the installation environment while keeping the internal components protected.
The project also required electrical specifications and wiring arrangements suited to the customer's local application.
The available system configurations included:
120/240V split-phase, three-wire system: Two hot conductors and one neutral.
120/208V three-phase, four-wire system.
The appropriate configuration is selected according to the system requirements.
The SKT series automatic transfer switch was also fitted with aluminum terminals to meet the customer's preferred wiring practices. This customization helps make field connections more convenient for the intended installation.
In addition, the operating frequency was specified as 60 Hz, and the miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) were marked accordingly to match the project requirements.
One of the key improvements in this project was the internal arrangement of the 100A ATS cabinet.
The original layout had components arranged in different positions, making the overall arrangement less consistent and wiring less convenient. Our engineering team reviewed the component positions and developed an optimized layout.
The revised design aligned the component arrangement more consistently while preserving the existing cabinet dimensions.
This engineering adjustment delivered three practical benefits:
Improved wiring accessibility. A more organized component layout gives installers clearer access to terminals and wiring points.
A cleaner internal arrangement. Consistent positioning creates a more orderly appearance and makes the cabinet easier to inspect.
No increase in cabinet size. The layout was optimized within the existing enclosure dimensions, avoiding the need for a larger cabinet.
The comparison between the original and optimized layout drawings demonstrates how detailed engineering adjustments can improve the usability of a customized ATS cabinet without changing its external size.
This project demonstrates AISIKAI's approach to customized automatic transfer switch solutions for generator systems. Rather than relying on a standard configuration alone, we consider the installation environment, electrical requirements, wiring preferences and internal component arrangement together.
For the Nassau project, the result was a customized 100A stainless steel ATS cabinet designed around coastal outdoor installation requirements, 60 Hz operation, aluminum terminal connections and improved internal accessibility.
AISIKAI supplies automatic transfer switches and customized ATS cabinet solutions for generator manufacturers and power system applications. From component selection to internal layout optimization, we work with customers to develop practical configurations for their specific project requirements.
